Welcome to the Multitasking Simulator

The Setup

You have 3 projects to complete. Each project has 10 tasks that must be done in sequence (Task 1, then Task 2, etc.). Each task takes 2 weeks.

  • P1 (High Value) - Earns $10,000/week once complete
  • P2 (Medium Value) - Earns $8,000/week once complete
  • P3 (Lower Value) - Earns $5,000/week once complete

The Resources

You have specialist workers who can only do certain tasks:

  • Blue - Does Tasks 1-3
  • Yellow - Does Tasks 4-7
  • Green - Does Tasks 8-10

The Three Scenarios

Ideal (9 resources) Each project gets its own dedicated Blue, Yellow, and Green. All 3 projects finish at week 20 simultaneously. This is the dream, but requires 3x the staff!
Single-tasking (3 resources, focused) One Blue, one Yellow, one Green - but they FOCUS on finishing P1 completely before starting P2, then P3. Projects finish at weeks 20, 28, 36.
Multitasking (3 resources, diluted) Same 3 resources, but they switch between all projects constantly. Everyone waits, everything is delayed. Projects finish around weeks 48, 50, 52.

What to Watch For

Run each scenario and compare:

  • When does each project finish?
  • How much money is earned by week 60?
